At John’s request, a piano was to be used as a main instrument in A Woman Under the Influence.

I was literally teaching myself to play as I was composing and recording the music for the film. The original idea was to have it properly arranged and orchestrated in post production.

John fell in love with my ‘temp tracks’ and that’s what’s in the film. Some of it is still hard for me to listen to, but in the years that followed, he stood by it: “It’s still my favorite film score,”
